Praise and Reinforcements

Reinforcements must be used by the teacher to maintain discipline. Since teachers us reinforcements such as grades in teaching academic concepts, so too can they use reinforcements in teaching students to manage their behavior. These reinforcements can be positive as well as negative....When deciding on which reinforcement to use, teachers should always try the least restrictive option first and move to a higher level only after attempting to gain control at a low level. For example, before sending a student to the office, a teacher might find that discussing the problem with the student will bring about the desired result.....EFFECTIVE TEACHERS employ more positive reinforcements than negative ones.....maintain a fun and positive classroom atmosphere where good behavior is rewarded. Most important, good teachers do not fear positive and negative reinforcements; when implemented correctly, these techniques work well.
